Yes, Phyllis, it was sad about Big-Tex. I saw him when I went to the state fair with a 4-H group when I was a kid. My husband just about scared me to death. He came in and stood at the doorway and said "Have you seen the Dallas obituaries today?" (You know my dad lives up there) then, he said "Big-Tex died." I was amazed to find out that most young people around here didn't have a clue to who he was. I told them they were not true Texans and should move out of state. LOL
Enjoy your time with your Florida friend. Hopefully, we can still have a JAP get together sometime in the coming year. xoxoxo
aaaah - thanks gail-friend........ hey, wish we'd have been able to work out a visit last weekend in Dallas. Went to my niece's wedding but stayed busy busy busy from thurs-sunday though. Wasn't that horrible about Big-Tex - R.I.P. big fella. Gearing up for my gal-pal to visit from FL this weekend then I'm off to the sunshine state with her for 2 weeks. Never a dull moment.......... PTL in most cases.
Hi Gail, Hi Nancy -- thanks for the note & compliment on my potato halves. I guess I should clarify that the okra on the plate was just for color and decoration in case anyone thought I was being goofy serving uncooked okra. Lady Rose commented that the picture was confusing -- I think that was a nice way of asking me if I'm totally nuts :) :) :)
Thanks, Ma. Yes, I am keeping pretty busy these days. You are too! It's just that time of year. Of course, finding great recipes and cooking is year round for us! Have a terrific Tuesday!
