Great book Gail and thanks for including one of my recipes in it. Well I was raised in Southern Ohio and I use to make my grilled cheese sandwiches with 5 pats of butter just like your recipe and find myself still doing that after all these years. Thaks for sharing. Have a good week.

It's buttered oven toast. We grew up with this. My husband's mother also made it for him. She called it 5 Pat Toast because you put 5 pats of butter on the bread. It's in the book..not much of a recipe but something that I would like to pass on to my kids and grandkids. It's easy to forget the simplest of foods. You can also make cinnamon toast or cheese toast like this.
