Where would Southern chicken and biscuits be without it? Or the beloved cornbread, fried green tomatoes and let's not forget the most decadent desserts you could possibly eat... all include buttermilk. I know my Grandma Campbell cooked with it and Grandpa drank a glass almost every day and I am sure you too had a Grandma, Mema, Ma', Nana or Grammie that cooked with it as well.
Please enjoy this wonderful collection.
Quotes:
I can still memory - taste the fresh buttermilk pancakes and hot buttermilk biscuits - both made with lard! - that were cooked on the top, or in the oven, of that ancient iron stove.
Vernon L Smith
"A quarrel is like buttermilk, once it's out of the churn; the more you shake it, the more sour it grows"
Irish Proverb
Fact: Some of Michelle Obama's favorite dishes: Watermelon salad with feta; fried oyster po’ boy; followed by samples of other items on the table: seafood crepe, shrimp and grits and *buttermilk biscuits.
Thanks Gail, I love trying to make the cookbooks a little special. I looke forward to getting my most recent 2 cookbooks I made. I want to cook more with buttermilk and I want to learn to make some killer sliders for summertime. So far, I only had 1 recipe for an amazing slider....now I have 40 plus to choose from. LOL
