I always enjoyed baking & cooking. Our mum taught me & my sister the basics, starting around age 8. A neighbour gave me my first cookbook, from Carnation Milk especially for children; I still have it. In those days that meant little girls, of course! All the illustrations are of little girls in aprons in the kitchen with their mothers, not a man in sight! After Mum started working full-time (not the norm in the 50s), I was responsible for starting supper every weeknight & soon became queen of the pressure cooker. Now retired, a new hobby is reading thru old family recipe collections & sharing.
