I am from S. Jersey originally but have lived in NH, Pensacola, FL, Spain (Navy), by the redwoods along the Calif. N. Coast & I visited my son in S Dakota. Now in No. N.J
I am 67 and a decent cook but nothing fancy. My favorite go to cookbooks are often the ones compiled by local cooks. Of the published variety, my favorite cookbooks are Better Homes, Joy of Cooking and Betty Crocker (older version).

I almost always prefer the old style cookbooks with the favorite old recipes. If I want to doctor it up, I know what to do. But I start with the classic recipes which are tried & true.
