I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. My mother was Croatian (Yugoslavian in those days) and my father was Hungarian/Yugoslavian. My mother was an awesome cook, baker, and homemaker. There was nothing she could not make! Christmases were amazing, with meat filled sarme (cabbage rolls) on top of mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and melt in your mouth moon cooked dusted with icing sugar (ground almonds were the base for these delicacies!). Homemade stuffing that rivalled any store or restaurant bought food, and so much more. She filled 2 long tables with her foods.
