INGREDIENTS

1/2 ground beef
•
1/2 pound italian sausage or ground pork
•
1 small or 1/2 large onion, chopped very small
•
3 minis or 1 large red, yellow, or orange bell pepper, diced tiny (I use 1 mini of each color}
•
1 jalapeño, dice tiny (take the seeds out of you don’t want high spice)
•
1 tablespoon olive oil plus more for greasing baking sheet
•
1 tablespoon minced garlic
•
1 cup italian breadcrumbs
•
3/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
•
1/4 teaspoon pepper
•
1/2 teaspoon salt
•
1 teaspoon dried oregano (or basil)
•
1 tablespoon garlic powder {omit this if you are not a huge garlic fan. I am!}
•
1 egg
•
3 tablespoons milk
•
Your choice of pasta cooked al dente. {I used this pretty gigli pasta}
•
One recipe Marinara sauce (recipe below) or 1 jar of high quality sauce
•
This sauce can be made ahead of time and put in the fridge for 2-3 days.
•
1 28 ounce can strained tomatoes {if you buy crushed instead, make sure to crush them really good with your hands first}
•
1/4 cup water
•
1 tablespoon minced garlic
•
handful of fresh basil, chopped
•
2 teaspoons dried oregano
•
1 tablespoon sugar
•
1 teaspoon salt
•
black pepper to taste
•
1 tablespoon olive oil
•
pinch of cayenne
