I found this recipe in my grandma's recipe collection. This recipe is from a magazine clipping from the 1940s. This would be a good recipe to convert to a slow-cooker.

Ingredients For vegetable soup

2 lbsoup bone

2 Tbspoil

salt and pepper to taste

2 qtcold water

1 ccanned tomatoes

1 lgonion, sliced

1/2 cdiced carrots

1/2 cdiced celery

1/2 cdiced potatoes

1/2 cpeas, frozen
How To Make vegetable soup

1Remove a portion of the meat from the soup bone and dice. Brown diced meat in oil.

2Place browned meat, soup bone, and seasonings in large soup pot; cover with cold water.

3Cover and heat to boiling. Then simmer for 2 1/2 hours-until meat is tender.

4Skim off fat. Add vegetables and cook until vegetables are tender.
