This is just a good hearty soup. It is filling, warm, and good. Living where I live, I always make it in the winter.

Ingredients For sausage, rice, and broccoli soup

1 lbpork sausage

1 lbkielbasa, diced

1 mdonion, diced
-
2 stalkcelery, diced (include some leaves if you have them)

1 1/2 cshredded carrot

1 tspdried thyme
-
2bay leaves
-
6 cchicken stock, broth, or boullion

1/3 cdry white rice
-
1 bagfrozen chopped broccoli
-
1 can12 oz. evaporated milk
-
10 sliceamerican cheese
-
salt and pepper to taste
How To Make sausage, rice, and broccoli soup

1Dice all vegetables. Dice kielbasa. Set aside.

2Brown pork sausage and drain. Add diced vegetables and saute until tender.

3Add stock, thyme, and bay leaves. Bring to a simmer. Add rice.

4Cook for a few minutes. Add diced kielbasa. Simmer until rice is tender. About 15-20 minutes.

5Add evaporated milk and cheese. Cook gently until cheese is melted. Add broccoli and heat through. Serve.

6If you want the broccoli to fall apart, add in step 3. If you want chunks, add in step 5.
