This is an old Amish recipe that I have changed a bit over the years. It is amazing! Great served with seedless rye or pumpernickel bread. Hope you enjoy.

Ingredients For sour kraut soup

2 lbfresh kielbasa
-
2 canthe large ones sour kraut

1 qthalf and half
-
1 ptheavy cream
-
1 stickreal butter
-
1 tsppaprika
- SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE.
How To Make sour kraut soup

1Add fresh kielbasa and and about a 1/2 cup of water to heavy soup pot or dutch oven. Cover and simmer till mostly cooked. Remove lid and brown meat.

2Remove meat from pot. Cut in bite size pieces. Add the juice from the cans of sour kraut. bring to a simmer to get the bits from the bottom of pan.

3Add the sour kraut, cut kielbasa, half and half, cream, butter, paprika, salt and pepper.

4simmer on low till slightly thickened.
