This is a hearty, spicy chili,perfect for winter nights. Cornmeal Cheddar biscuits are a great combination.

Ingredients For lori's calico chili

  • 2 lb
    lean ground chuck
  • 1 lb
    breakfast sausage
  • 2 md
    onions, chopped
  • 1 md
    bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 stalk
    celery, chopped
  • 1- 15 oz can
    kidney beans
  • 1 large can
    pinto beans
  • 1 can
    whole kernel corn, drained
  • 1 can
    tomatoes with green chilies
  • 1 can
    chili ready diced tomatoes
  • 1 can
    tomato paste
  • 3-4 Tbsp
    steak sauce (i used an a-1 type)
  • seasoned salt (to taste)
  • ground red pepper (to taste)
  • 2 pkg
    chili seasoning
  • 2 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 1 tsp
    cumin
  • hot sauce to your liking!

How To Make lori's calico chili

  • 1
    Brown meat with onions, pepper, and celery. Drain. I put it in a dutch oven at this point.

    Add all other ingredients. Allow to simmer until the flavors marry. About 30 minutes-1 hour.
