This is a soup women use to make on the day they were baking bread.

Ingredients For baked soup

  • 2 lb
    beef or mutton, trimmed, cut into small pieces
  • 2
    onions, sliced
  • 4
    carrots, chunked
  • 4
    parsnips, quartered
  • 6
    potatoes, cut up
  • 6
    tomatoes, peeled, quartered
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 lg
    beet, scraped, cut up (opt)
  • 3 qt
    water

How To Make baked soup

  • 1
    Add ingredients into an earthen vessel and set in the oven while the bread is baking.
  • 2
    If the bread is done before the dinner hour, keep the soup in the oven till ready to serve.
