Ingredients For red lentil soup

  • 2 c
    red lentils
  • 1/4 c
    rice, raw
  • 7 c
    water, approximately
  • 1 lg
    onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1/4 c
    olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    cumin
  • lemon juice to taste
  • salt & pepper to taste

How To Make red lentil soup

  • 1
    Place lentils, rice & onions with water into a soup pot & bring to a boil.

    Cover & simmer for about an hour.
  • 3
    Mix oil, flour, salt, pepper & cumin in bowl.
  • 4
    Add a ladelful of soup to mixture & mix well.
  • 5
    Pour the mixture into the soup & let simmer until the lentils are well cooked.

    Serve with a sprinkling of lemon juice and crackers.
