Many years ago, someone in the family collected recipes from descendants of my great grandparents, William M. and Florence E. (Snodgrass) Whaley and had them compiled into a cookbook. I am posting those recipes here so that they will not be lost. This recipe was submitted by my cousin Jeanetta.

Stove Top
Ingredients For polish sausage stew

2 Tbspbutter or margarine

1 mdhead green cabbage, cut in 8 wedges

4 to 5 smpotatoes, peeled

1 cbeef broth
-
t tsphoney or sugar

dashpepper
-
1bay leaf
-
12 to 16 ozsausage (polish or kielbas, your choice of beef or pork)
How To Make polish sausage stew

1In Dutch oven, over medium heat. stir butter and cabbage until wilted.

2Add remaining ingredients, except sausage. Stir to combine.

3Place sausage, whole, on top and cover.

4Stir vegetables occasionally.

5Simmer 30 to 45 minutes, until potatoes are done. Serve.
