Loved Mom's soup on a cold winter day.... She was a wonderful cook - actually I prefer to think of her as a chef. Miss ya Mom!

Ingredients For mom's split pea soup

1 pkgpound dry split peas

1 ccelery leaves and stalks chopped

1 cchopped onion
-
1 cchopped carrots
-
1 tspdry oregano
-
1 Tbspparsley leaves

1bay leaf
-
salt to taste
-
pepper to taste
-
1ham hocks
-
2 qtwater
-
small amount of chopped (seedless) hot peppers to taste

(optional) small amount of chopped ham,
How To Make mom's split pea soup

1Combine all ingredients in a large pot

2Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer stirring frequently until thick ( a couple of hours) Make sure it does not burn!

3I remove the ham bone and add chopped ham as desired
