Ingredients For italian submarine sandwich soup

  • 1lb
    ground beef
  • 6
    sweet sausage casing removed
  • 1 c
    pepperoni presliced
  • 1
    small hamsteak
  • 1
    small onion
  • 2 can
    diced tomatoes (15 oz)
  • 1
    green bell pepper
  • 1/4 c
    olive oil, extra virgin
  • 5
    garlic cloves
  • 1 c
    small pasta ( i use small shells)
  • 6 c
    chicken broth, condensed
  • 1
    loaf of italian bread (stale bread is fine)
  • 1/2 c
    romano cheese, grated
  • 1 tsp
    italian seasoning

How To Make italian submarine sandwich soup

    Brown sausage and chopped meat in a large pot. Add salt and pepper to taste

    Chop onion and garlic and pepper (if you don't like peppers, don't use them) add to brown meat. Let soften. Take this time to cut your ham into small pieces

    Add ham and bagged pepperoni. Stir all ingredients.

    Add 2 cans of diced tomatoes and stir. Again salt and pepper to taste. Let these ingredients simmer for a few minutes and add chicken stock. Keep soup simmering at medium heat.

    About 10 minutes before you're ready to serve add you pasta.

    Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Cut your italian bread into cubes. Put in a large bowl add olive oil cheese italian seasoning and romano cheese. Mix all the ingredients in the bowl. I use my hands but you can use a spoon if you'd like. Place croutons on baking sheet bake for 6 minutes. Turn them with a spatula and bake for another 6 minutes.

    Put your soup in a bowl and serve with the croutons on top. I add more romano cheese before I serve.
