Ingredients For ham hock soup

  • 5 clove
    garlic
  • 3
    ham hocks, about 1.5 pounds
  • 3
    celery ribs (or stalks, whichever term you use)
  • 3 md
    red potatoes, cubed
  • 2 qt
    water
  • 1 md
    yellow onions, chopped chunky
  • 1/2 stick
    butter, unsalted
  • 1/2 lb
    baby carrots, halved
  • 1/2 bunch
    chives, chopped
  • SEASONINGS (CAN BE TO TASTE, THIS IS WHAT I USE)
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    white ground pepper
  • 1 tsp
    ground thyme
  • 1 tsp
    italian seasoning
  • 1
    packet sazon goya, cilantro & tomato
  • 1/2 tsp
    smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp
    whole cumin, dried

How To Make ham hock soup

  • 1
    Melt butter in large stock pot. Cook onion and garlic until onion is starting to become translucent. Add celery, potatoes, carrots, chives and water and stir.

    Add seasonings, stir.

    Add Ham Hocks and simmer, covered, for 3-5 hours.
