Ingredients For easy broccoli cheese soup

1/2 cbutter

1onion, chopped
-
1 pkgfrozen broccoli florets

1broccoli crown, cut into florets

4 14.5 ozcans chicken broth

1 lbloaf velveeta, cubed
-
2 cheavy cream or half and half
-
1 Tbspgarlic powder
-
2/3 ccornstarch
-
1 cwater
-
salt and pepper to taste

1/4 lbhoffmans super sharp cheddar, cubed (optional)
How To Make easy broccoli cheese soup

1In a stockpot or dutch oven melt butter over medium heat. Cook onion in butter until soft. Stir in broccoli and cover with chicken broth. Simmer until broccoli is tender, about 15 minutes.

2Reduce heat and stir in cheese cubes until melted. Mix in the half and half and garlic powder.

3In a small bowl, stir cornstarch into water until dissolved, then stir into soup. Cook, stirring frequently, until thick. Add salt and pepper to taste.
