Ingredients For mom's best clam chowder

1/2 lbbacon, cooked, crumbled.

6 Tbspbutter

2 cchopped onion
-
1 cchopped celery
-
2 tspminced garlic

1 tspsalt
-
1 tsppepper
-
1/2 cflour
-
210 oz cans baby clams, juice reserved

4 cwater
-
4 lgred-skinned potatoes, diced
-
1 pinchnutmeg
-
2 tspworcestershire sauce
-
1/4 tsphot sauce
-
2 clight cream
-
1 Tbspfresh chopped chives
How To Make mom's best clam chowder

1melt butter in lg pot. Add onion, celery and garlic. Cook until tender. Add flour, cook, stirring constantly for 2 min., over medium heat. Add clam juice and water. Bring to a simmer, simmer 15 mins. Add potatoes, nutmeg, worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Simmer 15 mins. Add cream, and clams. Bring to a slow simmer for about 12 mins or until heated though. Stir in salt and pepper. Sprinkle w/ bacon and chives.
