This recipe came about because my son loves a cheeseburger, but hates pickles and most of the cheeseburger chowders had diced pickles or pickle juice in them.

Ingredients For cheeseburger chowder

1 2/3 lbground chuck

2 mdred potatoes, peeled and cubed

1 1/2 cwater

1/2 cchopped celery

2 tspminced garlic

1/4 cchopped onion

2 Tbspchopped green pepper
-
1 Tbspbeef flavored bouillon granules

1/2 tspsalt

3 Tbspall-purpose flour

2 1/2 cmilk, divided

1 1/2 cshredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided

1/2 cshredded American cheese
-
4 Tbspbacon crumbles, to garnish, optional
How To Make cheeseburger chowder

1Brown the ground chuck in a 3 quart saucepan, stirring until it crumbles; drain.

2Add the potatoes, water, celery, garlic, onions, green bell peppers, beef bouillon granules, and salt. Stir well. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.

3Combine the flour and 1/2 cup milk; add to the vegetable mixture, stirring constantly. Stir in the remaining milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thickened.

4Add 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese and the American cheese; cook, stirring constantly, just until the cheese melts. Ladle the soup into individual bowls and sprinkle with additional sharp cheddar and bacon crumbles, if desired.
