spicy chili with beans

I added more time for prep because of the dry red kidney beans. Once the beans are done, takes about half an hour. This recipe has a little more spice and smokey flavor than most. It is a mixture of several family recipes and will keep you wanting more.

Ingredients For spicy chili with beans

  • 1 bag
    red kidney beans
  • 1 lb
    hamburger
  • 1 can
    fire roasted tomatoes
  • 1/2 c
    medium hot salsa
  • 1 sm
    white onions
  • 1 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp
    italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp
    basil, dried
  • 1/2 tsp
    sage, dried
  • 1/2 tsp
    thyme, dried
  • 1/2 tsp
    cumin
  • 1/2 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • 1 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    paprika, smoked

How To Make spicy chili with beans

    Soak and cook kidney beans according to instructions on bag
  • Cooking hamburger and onions

    In a large skillet brown the hamburger with onions until fully cooked.
  • Spices, tomatoes, onions, salsa

    In a medium size sauce pan add tomatoes and spices. Cook for 15 minutes on medium.
  • Serve piping hot.

    Lower to a simmer, add kidney beans and meat, cook an additional 15 minutes.
