mertzie's chili
(1 rating)
So many chili recipes out there. I don't like mine extra, extra hot. I've never used a recipe, but my son has been asking me to write down how I make some of his favorite dishes, so today I did just that. We top ours with cheese, sour cream & scallions. I still love to crumble Ritz crackers in my chili, just like I did when I was little! :)

How To Make mertzie's chili
-
1Brown ground meat very well. I add some salt & pepper as it cooking. Drain, if needed. Add garlic & onion powder, Montreal seasoning, and generous amount of worcestershire. Continue cooking.
-
2Add onion, green & banana peppers, & celery, and stir well.
-
3I add everything else except the beans & cilantro & cook on low-medium for about 1 hour. (I add about 1 TBS of sugar on top of the canned tomatoes). Then, I add the beans, cilantro, more salt if needed or whatever others spices & we're ready to chow! If you want more heat, add jalapenos or hot sauce.
