This is my take on a popular favorite. This makes a big batch and is a little "zippier" than the original version. Can easily be a vegetarian dish...just leave out the bacon!

Ingredients For crockpot calico beans-my version

2 canchili hot beans, undrained

2 canblack beans, drained

1 cancannelini beans-or other white bean, drained

1 canbutter beans, drained

1/4 ccatsup
-
1/4 ctomato sauce
-
1/4 choney or brown sugar
-
1 Tbspyellow mustard
-
1 tsponion powder
-
1/2 tspgarlic powder
-
1/2 tspchili powder
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1/8 tspground black pepper
-
4 slicebacon(optional)
How To Make crockpot calico beans-my version

1Empty undrained chili hot beans and drained black, canellini and butter beans into crockpot.

2Add remaining ingredients(except bacon) and stir to combine.

3Lay bacon(if using)across top of beans. Cook on low for 3-5hrs. Remove bacon and discard, or chop into small pieces and stir back into beans.
