    (14.5 oz. each) kidney beans
  • 1 can
    (14.5 oz) black beans
  • 1 can
    (14.5 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can
    (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 can
    (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp
    instant minced onion
  • 2 tsp
    beef bouillon granules
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground cumin
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 1 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1/8 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1 sm
    bay leaf
  • 1
    sturdy wicker basket

How To Make chili in a basket (gift giving)

    Arrange canned items in the basket.

    Combine instant minced onion, bouillon, salt, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder and oregano, cayenne pepper and bay leaf; place in a small airtight plastic bag and place the plastic bag in a decorative paper bag, and label "Seasoning Packet."

    Place the seasoning packet in the basket. Attach a pretty ribbon and a gift tag with the following instructions:

    Chili Beans 1 pound ground beef, cooked and drained (optional) Tomato sauce Tomato paste Diced Tomatoes Seasoning packet Water Drain and rinse cans of beans. Place in a large dutch oven. Add cooked ground beef (if using). Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, diced tomatoes and seasoning packet. Add water as needed, depending on how thick you like it. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, uncovered 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove and discard bay leaf.
