Ingredients For cheryl's chili

    onion, chopped
  • 1
    green pepper, chopped
  • 1 tsp
    garlic, minced
  • 2 lb
    ground beef, turkey, lean, your choice
  • 1 pkg
    chili seasoning
  • 14 oz
    tomato juice
  • 29 oz
    tomatoes,diced w/liquid
  • 30 oz
    mrs grimes chili beans
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp
    red pepper flakes

How To Make cheryl's chili

    In a large pot,over medium heat saute onion, green pepper and garlic in a couple tablespoons of olive oil until translucent, about 10 minutes. Add meat of your choice until cooked and no longer pink.

    Add tomato juice, chili seasoning,tomatoes, chili beans and stir well,add pepper flakes, sugar and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low-simmer for 45 minutes.

    Serve with dollop of sour cream, chopped scallions,shredded cheese and crackers. Great the next day as chili dogs!

    I choose at least 85% lean meat since that reduces fat, if meat seems greasy, before step 2 go ahead and rinse in a colander, return to pot and continue.
