My family is from Texas and loves tex-mex food. This is a family favorite. I usually double the recipe as it freezes well for another time. This is also good made with vinison. Use half beef and half vinisonl

Ingredients For barbara's chili

  • 2 lb
    ground meat
  • 2
    finely chopped onions
  • 5
    buttons garlic chopped fine, or use garlic powder to taste
  • 1/4 c
    chili powder
  • 3 tsp
    cumin powder
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    red pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper (optional)
  • 2
    8 oz cans tomato sauce
  • 5
    tomato cans water

How To Make barbara's chili

  • 1
    Brown meat with onions and garlic. DRAIN and put in large pot. Add all dry ingredients. Stir well. Add liquids and after initially heating to boil,reduce heat and cook very slowly 2=3 hours. Cook with lid off.
