On our birthday mom would ask us what meal we would like for that day, my answer was always slides. My sister Patty also requested slides. My daughter Gwen always requests slides. When my mom made or me makes slides people come out of the woodwork to get them. My daughter made them for the first time this year so we can keep this going because it did not start with my mom, but grandmas

Ingredients For mom's slides

  • CHICKEN AND BROTH
  • 1
    whole chicken boiled
  • 1
    diced peeled potato
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    chicken base
  • 1 tsp
    salt and pepper in with chicken
  • NOODLES
  • 1 box
    [dozen] eggs
  • 1 pinch
    salt
  • 5-6 c
    all purpose flour [might need more or less]
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder

How To Make mom's slides

    In a large soup pot boil chicken and remove from pot and let cool enough to remove chicken from bone and add to pot. add chicken base to pot.

    Whip with a wire whip the eggs, add 1/2 flour, salt, baking powder. Stir adding flour as you go until you have a dough ball that it would be possible to roll out with rolling pin. Using flour on counter or large cutting board place 1/3 dough on surface sprinkling some flour on top. Roll dough out fairly large, then cut it into 2 inch squares and add to boiling broth.

    Once all dough is cut and placed in boiling broth lower heat continue cooking for 30+ minutes stirring often it will thicken as it cooks. It is a large square noodle soup, thick and rich.
