I love soups and chowders and this one I made using leftover turkey that my husband had roasted for us. It is so easy and was very creamy and yummy. Hope you think so too.

Ingredients For chicken or turkey wild rice chowder

  • 2 c
    sliced fresh carrots or 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 c
    chopped onion
  • 1/2 c
    chopped celery
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 3 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 2 - 1/2 can
    chicken broth (14 1/2 ounces each)
  • 2-2/3 c
    cubed cooked chicken or turkey breast
  • 1 pkg
    (8.8 ounces) ready to serve long grain and wild rice
  • 1/4 c
    half and half cream
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper

How To Make chicken or turkey wild rice chowder

    In a large saucepan or dutch oven kettle, saute the carrots, onion and celery in butter until tender. Stir in flour until blended; gradually add the chicken broth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Once thickened stir in the chicken/turkey, rice, cream and pepper; heat through.
