Ingredients For old-time beef stew

2 Tbspoil

1 tspworcestershire sauce

1/2 tsppepper

1/2 tsppaprika

2bay leaves

1 dashallspice or cloves

6carrots, cut in pieces

6medium potatoes, cut in pieces

1/2 ccold water
-
1 tspsugar

1 Tbsplemon juice

2 cflour
-
1 Tbspgarlic powder

1 tsppaprika
-
2 lbstew beef
-
1onion, quartered
-
1clove garlic
-
4 cboiling water
-
1 tspsalt

1/4 cflour
How To Make old-time beef stew

1Put flour, paprika and garlic powder in a plastic bag.

2Coat stew beef in flour mixture and brown in hot oil in a large dutch oven.

3After all meat is browned, add the remaining ingredients except for 1/2 cup cold water and 1/4 cup flour.

4Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 2-3 hours.

5When all vegetables are cooked, thicken with 1/2 cup cold water mixed with 1/4 cup flour.

6To cook in a crockpot, brown flour coated meat.

7Put browned meat and remaining ingredients, except for thickening ingredients, into the crockpot.

8Cook on low for 10-12 hours or 5-6 hours on high.
