My grandmother used to make this sweet and sour soup and can it. EVERY time I make this, it gets rave reviews. Grandma would be flattered by all the "mmmmmmmmmmmmmms." Great with crusty bread or rolls.

Ingredients For grandma's vegetable soup

2 stickcelery, diced large

2carrots, diced large

1 mdonion, diced

1 mdhead of cabbage, chopped large

1 lbstew beef, cut into small pieces

3 lgpotatoes, peeled and diced large

1 cantomato juice or v-8

1/4 cketchup

2 Tbspwhite vinegar

2 Tbspolive or canola oil

1/4 csugar

salt and pepper to taste

1In a large stock pot, brown meat in oil. Add onion and continue until softened. Add the rest of the ingredients. Give it a good stir.

2Reduce heat and simmer all day. The aroma alone will make you crazy hungry. Enjoy!
