1 lbbeef stew meat, cut into bite size pieces

1 mdonion, chopped

1 lbmini red potatoes, depending on size cut in half or quartered

1 bagbaby carrots

1 cdried lentils, rinsed

3/4 cpearl barley
-
8 cbeef broth, 64 ozs

1 tspsalt
-
1/2 tsppepper
-
1 Tbspsweet paprika, not smoked

1 Tbspsugar
-
1/2 tspmarjoram
-
2 canstewed tomatoes, 14.5 ozs each
How To Make beef vegetable barley lentil soup

1Put meat into a 5 qt. slow cooker. Layer with onions, potatoes, carrots, lentils, and barley.

2Combine broth and seasonings, pour over vegetables. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or until vegetables, barley and lentils are tender.

3Add tomatoes and cook 2 hours longer.

4Can use ground beef instead of stew meat, but brown beef with onion before putting in slow cooker.

5You can add the tomatoes at the start, but use diced tomatoes instead of stewed.
