Ingredients For split pea & ham soup

    meaty ham bone or 2 ham hocks
  • 1 pkg
    (16 oz.) split green peas
  • 3
    carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 c
    onion, chopped
  • 2
    ribs of celery plus leaves, chopped
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 1 tsp
    lawry's season salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    white pepper
  • 1 1/2 qt
    hot water

How To Make split pea & ham soup

    Layer ingredients in slow cooker in the order given; pour in water. Do not stir ingredients. Cover and cook on HIGH 4 to 5 hours or on low 8 to 10 hours until peas are very soft.

    Ladle a portion of the soup into a separate bowl. Mash or blend with a stick blender until smooth. Stir back into soup to thicken.

    Cut meat from bones and add back into soup. Serve hot.
