1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup (1 and 1/2 sticks; 180g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
•
1 large egg, at room temperature
•
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
•
**Optional: 1/4 tsp. almond extract (Yields an outstanding flavor)

4 cups (480g) confectioners’ sugar, sifted

3 Tablespoons meringue powder
•
6 to 8 Tablespoons room temperature water
