This is a variation on a Holiday treat my mom used to make. She used a Moulie, but a food processor makes it much easier.

Ingredients For mama's sugar plums

  • 1/3 c
    dried cranberries
  • 1/3 c
    dried apricots
  • 1/3 c
    dried cherries
  • 1/3 c
    raisins
  • 1/4 c
    dates, chopped
  • 1/4 c
    pecans, in pieces
  • COATNGS
  • 1/4 c
    ground almonds
  • 1/4 c
    graham cracker crumbs
  • COMBINE THE FOLLOWING FOR A THIRD VARIATION
  • 1 Tbsp
    graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 Tbsp
    powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    cocoa powder

How To Make mama's sugar plums

  • 1
    Place all ingredients in bowl of food processor fitted with blade. Process on high until ingredients form a large ball.

    Roll into acorn-sized balls. Roll in various coatings and place in a single layer on cookie sheet covered in waxed paper. Allow to sit until sugar plums are dry to the touch.

    Refrigerate for at least two weeks before serving to allow flavors to mingle. Keep refrigerated.
