Another old recipe book uncovered at an auction. This one dates back to 1957 it's an old Presbyterian Church cookbook. You can never beat the ladies cooking at a church potluck.

Ingredients For candied cranberries

  • 4 c
    cranberries (1quart)
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    water

How To Make candied cranberries

  • 1
    Wash berries and drain on a towel so all water is removed.

    Boil sugar and water 3 minutes, then drop in berries, soda and salt. From the time berries begin boiling, boil 15 minutes.

    Shake kettle occasionally. DO NOT REMOVE COVER UNTIL BERRIES ARE COLD!!!!!! NOTE: The secret of this recipe is not to remove cover until the berries are cold.
