This was my mom's recipe for brownies. She made them for every family get together. They were gone even before they hit the table! She was a home ec teacher and this was a recipe she used to test following directions. Use a wooden spoon as the directions indicate. I am just saying!!! She always said the kids that used a mixer never had them turn out. These make a great hot fudge brownie sundae!

Ingredients For saucepan brownies

1 stickmargarine (mom always used margarine)

1square unsweetened baking chocolate

1 csugar

1/2 cflour
-
1 tspsalt

1 tspvanilla

1 tspbaking powder

2 lgeggs
-
1/2 cchopped nuts (optional)
How To Make saucepan brownies

1Melt chocolate and margarine in a large saucepan. Remove from heat.

2Beat in sugar until mixed and then all other ingredients using a wooden spoon. Beat til smooth.

3Beat in eggs one at a time using the wooden spoon. Beat til mixture is smooth and well blended. Stir in nuts if using.

4Pour into greased 9x9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. The top will be crackly and dry. The center will test done with a toothpick.
