hot hero sandwiches
(4 ratings)
These sandwiches are great when you're entertaining a crowd. They can be made ahead and just popped into the oven before you're ready to serve.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
We love a great hero, and this recipe did not disappoint. It has all the flavors you expect from an Italian sub. The salami and pepperoni mixed with the ham is an excellent choice and fantastic with the Swiss cheese. Drizzling Italian dressing adds zesty flavor. Once toasted in the oven, it's warm and yummy. Perfect for serving a crowd or a game day snack.

1Cut the loaf of bread in half lengthwise. Spread the butter on the cut sides and sprinkle with oregano.
-
2On the bottom half, layer the ham, salami, pepperoni, and cheese.
-
3Top with the tomato, onion, and lettuce.
-
4Sprinkle with the salt and pepper to taste. Drizzle with Italian dressing.
-
5Top with upper half of the loaf. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
-
6Wrap the loaf tightly in aluminum foil and warm in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
-
7Remove from the oven and cut into serving-size pieces. This can be rewarmed in a microwave oven.
