These granola bars are a great healthy snack, not to sweet, and can be designed to you and your family's own taste.

Ingredients For granola bars

  • 1 c
    rolled oats (5 minute or old fashioned)
  • 1/2 c
    whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 c
    nugget cereal(i use bear naked) or grape nuts
  • 1/4 c
    sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 c
    nuts, chopped (whatever is on hand, i like almonds)
  • 7 oz
    dried mixed fruit
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon, ground
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/4 c
    applesauce, no sugar added
  • 1/4 c
    honey
  • 3 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    oil, canola or vegetable

How To Make granola bars

    Preheat oven to 325, and line a 9 inch baking dish with foil, spray with cooking spray.

    In a large bowl, add first 7 ingredients and mix. In a smaller bowl or glass measuring dish mix the next 5 ingredients and add to your dry mixture.

    Pour into baking dish and press. Bake in oven for 30 minutes, top will be brown. Variations: omit oil, and add more applesauce; use peanuts, peanut butter and chocolate chips; use only one dried fruit of your liking or any varity of nuts. I like that these are not to sweet some may prefer to add more sugar. Do what your family likes.
