garlic croutons

I used to love the croutons at a local grocery store, then they discontinued them! I started playing around with some of my favorite ingredients and came up with these. These croutons are super easy to make and you can customize them a ton of different ways. I haven't found a dressing yet that they clash with, although I also love to eat them straight out of the Tupperware.

Ingredients For garlic croutons
-
1/2loaf of sour dough bread
-
1 stickbutter or margarine
-
1 Tbspgarlic powder
-
1 Tbsponion powder
-
parmesan cheese (optional)
How To Make garlic croutons
-
1Cut up the bread into chunks(they don't shrink up too much, so make sure you can fit the pieces in your mouth.) Place them in a medium sized bowl
-
2Melt the stick of butter. Dissolve the onion and garlic powders in the butter.
-
3Pour the butter mixture over the bread chunks. Mix with a large slotted spoon or your hands until the bread is coated.
-
4Cover a 9x13 pan with parchment paper (not required, just easier clean up). Spread the bread chunks over the pan in a single layer.
-
5Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour, stirring and turning every 15 minutes. The croutons should be dry by the end. If not, leave them in the oven for 15 more minutes.
-
6Remove from the oven, allow to cool. This is when you would add the Parmesan cheese if desired. Store in an airtight container.
