I used to love the croutons at a local grocery store, then they discontinued them! I started playing around with some of my favorite ingredients and came up with these. These croutons are super easy to make and you can customize them a ton of different ways. I haven't found a dressing yet that they clash with, although I also love to eat them straight out of the Tupperware.

Ingredients For garlic croutons

  • 1/2
    loaf of sour dough bread
  • 1 stick
    butter or margarine
  • 1 Tbsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    onion powder
  • parmesan cheese (optional)

How To Make garlic croutons

  • 1
Cut up the bread into chunks(they don't shrink up too much, so make sure you can fit the pieces in your mouth.) Place them in a medium sized bowl
  • 2
Melt the stick of butter. Dissolve the onion and garlic powders in the butter.
  • 3
Pour the butter mixture over the bread chunks. Mix with a large slotted spoon or your hands until the bread is coated.
  • 4
Cover a 9x13 pan with parchment paper (not required, just easier clean up). Spread the bread chunks over the pan in a single layer.
  • 5
Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour, stirring and turning every 15 minutes. The croutons should be dry by the end. If not, leave them in the oven for 15 more minutes.
  • 6
Remove from the oven, allow to cool. This is when you would add the Parmesan cheese if desired. Store in an airtight container.
