I love chestnuts and this is the season for them. I finally learned the proper method and want to share it with you.

Ingredients For roasting chestnuts

  • 1 lg
    bag of raw chestnuts
  • water

How To Make roasting chestnuts

    Set your oven for 425'F. Make a slice along the round mounded edge of each chestnut. Make sure you cut right through the shell.

    Put them in a saucepan and cover with water.

    Bring to a simmer.
  • 4
    Remove from the pot and put into a heat proof dish.
  • 5
    Bake for 15 minutes.
  • 6
    Put in a towel and leave for 15 minutes so the steam can help soften the chestnuts.
