marie's glazed nuts

This recipe comes from a long-time family friend who is a wonderful cook. These nuts were served at my parents wedding and are still a favorite in our family. Especially around Christmas. I like to add these nuts to Christmas candy/cookie plates. I make them ahead of time and just divide the nuts into little plastic snack bags, put the little bags into a gallon-size Ziploc bag and put into the freezer until I'm ready to use them.

Ingredients For marie's glazed nuts

  • 2 c
    walnut halves
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 5 Tbsp
    hot water
  • 1 Tbsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter

How To Make marie's glazed nuts

  • 1
    Mix sugar, hot water, and cinnamon. Cook over medium heat to softball state. Remove from the heat.

    Add vanilla, butter, and nuts. Stir until nuts are covered and mixture begins to harden.

    Pour nuts onto a baking sheet lined with foil and separate pieces.
