dear daughter's granola bars

My daughter took home economics this year. I told her it wouldn't hurt her..So, she brings home from school this plate of granola's and says " Mom you have to try these". Well, I will be the first to admit, I DO NOT LIKE GRANOLA! Especially the hard, break a tooth kind..LOL..so I tried a bite, needless to say one bite led to another..these were surprisingly very good. I told her to bring home the recipe, and here it is. It's chewy, not hard,and I think delicious. When she makes it again, I will provide a pic.

Ingredients For dear daughter's granola bars

  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp
    corn syrup or honey
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1
    egg,beaten
  • 2 c
    rolled oats
  • 1/2 c
    crushed shredded wheat
  • 1/4 c
    whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 c
    chopped almonds
  • 2/3 c
    shredded coconut
  • 1/2 c
    golden raisins
  • 1
    apple, pared and diced

How To Make dear daughter's granola bars

    In large saucepan, melt butter. Add vanilla, corn syrup, brown sugar, and cinnamon; mix well. Add beaten egg, stir until thoroughly blended. Stir in remaining ingredients.

    Spread in a 9x9 greased pan. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes, just until lightly golden around edges. Cut into bars.
