I don't know about you, but we eat a ton of dinner salads in the summer when fresh fruits and vegetables are abundant. One of our favorite salad ingredients is candied walnuts or pecans. Absolutely delicious and that "something special" that will make your fresh salads stand out from the rest. Excellent on your favorite ice cream, too. =)

Ingredients For candied walnuts or pecans for salads

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    warm water
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    walnut or pecan halves

How To Make candied walnuts or pecans for salads

    Combine brown sugar, water and salt in a small ramekin. Mix thoroughly.

    Line a 1/4 sheet pan with parchment paper.

    Place walnut/pecan halves in a non-stick, dry skillet. Toast gently for 3-4 minutes.

    Remove from heat and quickly and carefully add brown sugar mixture. Toss quickly and gently for a minute or so until well coated. Immediately place on parchment paper in a single layer. Allow to cool.
