2 lb round roast of beef, lean and trimmed of visible fat (if roast is very thick, cut into a few pieces – I cut mine in thirds)

1 1/2 cups chopped onion
•
1 1/2 cups ketchup
•
1/3 cups Worcestershire sauce
•
3 tablespoons brown sugar
•
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
•
2 teaspoons salt
