Ingredients For vegetarian cider baked beans

2 cassorted dried beans, soaked and drained

2 mdonions, finely chopped

3 stalkcelery, peeled and thinly sliced

2 mdcarrots, peeled and thinly sliced

2 clovegarlic, minced
-
2 cturnips, peeled and diced
-
2 tspchili powder
-
1 tspsalt
-
1 tspcracked black peppercorns

4whole cloves
-
1cinnamon stick piece, about 2 inches

1 capple cider or juice
-
1 cwater
-
1/2 cmaple syrup
-
2 Tbspcornstarch, dissolved in 2 tbsp. cold water
How To Make vegetarian cider baked beans

1In a slow cooker, combine ingredients, except cornstarch. Cover and cook on LOW for 10 to 12 hours or on HIGH for 5 to 6 hours, until beans are tender.

2In a bowl, combine dissolved cornstarch with 2 Tbsp. hot cooking liquid from beans and stir until smooth. Gradually add up to 1/4 cup hot bean liquid, stirring until mixture is smooth. Return mixture to slow cooker and stir well until sauce thickens.
