My daughter in law and I love this recipe.I had clipped it from an old news paper years ago.Hope you enjoy it.

Ingredients For tomato-cheese casserole

2 lgpurple onions

1/4 cplus 2tea.butter

1 [6oz] pkgcroutons, plain

6 lgtomatoes,sliced

1 tspsalt
-
1/2 tsppepper
-
1/2 tspdried basil
-
3 cmonterey jack cheese
How To Make tomato-cheese casserole

1In a large skillet,saute'onions in butter for 5 minutes.

2Add croutons and saute 3 minutes

3Place tomato slices in a bowl.Sprinkle with salt,pepper and basil;toss gently.

4Spoon half of reserved onion mixture into greased 13 by 9inch baking dish.Arrange half of tomato slices over onion mixture;sprinkle with half of cheese.

5Repeat layers.

6Bake, uncovered,at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes until hot and bubbly.
