My Mom was raised PA Dutch, this is one of many recipe that have been handed down in our family from mother to daughter for many generations.

Ingredients For rodekool (red cabbage)

1 1/2 tspbutter, melted

1small head red cabbage, thinly sliced

2tart apples, peeled, cored and chopped

1/4 capple cider vinegar
-
1 cred currant jelly
-
1/4 cwater
-
1/2 tspsalt

1/4 tspsugar
How To Make rodekool (red cabbage)

1Melt butter in a two quart saucepan and add cabbage, apples, cider vinegar, current jelly and water. Mix well.

2Cover and simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender, about 1 hour.

3Add salt and sugar, mix and serve.

4This recipe can be prepared a day ahead , just refrigerate. When ready to use just warm through.
