I found this recipe on a package of shredded red cabbage. I use this recipe quite off as my go-to side dish. It complements any entree and goes to gather very fast.

Ingredients For red cabbage

  • 8 oz
    shredded red cabbage
  • 2 c
    cubed apple, unpeeled
  • 2 Tbsp
    bacon drippings
  • 1/4 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp
    caraway seed
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • dash
    pepper

How To Make red cabbage

  • 1
    Heat bacon drippings in a skillet. Stir in brown sugar, vinegar, caraway seed, water, salt and pepper.

    Add shredded cabbage and apple. Stir until coated.

    Cover and cook 15 minutes for crisp cabbage, or 25 minutes for tender cabbage.
