Ingredients For red cabbage salad/blaukrautsalat

1 smhead red cabbage, washed and shredded

1 1/2 cboiling water

2 1/2 Tbspapple cider vinegar

3 slicebacon, chopped
-
1white onion, peeled and chopped

1 tspsalt
-
1/4 tsppepper

1 dashsugar
How To Make red cabbage salad/blaukrautsalat

1Put cabbage in a heat-proof glass or ceramic bowl. Mix 1 tablespoon vinegar with boiling water and pour mixture over cabbage. (Vinegar prevents cabbage from losing color.) Let stand for a minute, then drain and return cabbage to bowl.

2Saute bacon and onions until onions are golden brown and bacon is crisp. Add to cabbage with remaining ingredients, toss, and serve immediately.
