2 lbred cabbage, cored and cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces

1gala or fuji apple, cored and cut into 1/2-inch cubes

1/2 cunfiltered apple cider

1/2 tspcaraway seeds

2whole allspice, crushed, optional

1 1/2 Tbspapple cider vinegar

How To Make quick-braised red cabbage and apple

1Cook garlic in butter in a 12-inch heavy skillet over medium heat, stirring, 1 minute. Add cabbage, apple, cider, caraway, allspice (if using), 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper and cook, covered, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender, 15 to 18 minutes.

2Add vinegar and cook, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until liquid has evaporated, 2 to 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
